o The Women for Sobriety Center (WFSC) serves all women, including women with children, pregnant women, lesbian women and HIV position women. All women with at least 20 days free of substance abuse and need a place to rebuild their lives and continue their recovery process are welcome at WFSC. o WFSC has created a nurturing and supportive environment for the women and their children at WFSC. The residents at WFSC have normally been through very rough times and are looking for somewhere to rebuild their lives. The goal is to get women back on their feet and prepare them to use newly found skills to re-enter society as responsible and confidant women. o WFSC is currently directed and owned by Shirley Harris. Ms. Harris came to WFSC in 1989, as a resident after graduating Patterns, a residential treatment program of Behavior Health Services, Inc. She began her career at Patterns and was the first client ever to be hired there, while living at WFSC. o Ms. Harris took over WFSC when the previous owner and Director left. Ms. Harris recognized what it meant to have a sober environment for women and their children to get their lives back on track during recovery and she Harris has continued this tradition since 1989. o WFSC accommodates twelve residents in six bedrooms and two full bathrooms. In addition to the bedrooms, the residents have a full kitchen, living room, services porch (with washer & dryer) and two porches. o Most women who come to WFSC are referred from Recovery treatment programs in the community. These programs desperately search for good Sober Living environments where they can send female clients who have completed treatment. WFSC is unlike many other residential sober living environments, in that women and their children are accepted, there are strict rules and polices that must be adhered to and WFSC offers various programs to help women re-enter society (shown under services). o WFSC will continue to strive to improve and offer life-changing services to all women.
